History

140 Years of Catholic Education
Catholic Education began in Quirindi in January 1885, with the arrival from Lochinvar of three black habit St Joseph’s Sisters. Quirindi at that time was in the Gunnedah Parish within the Diocese of Maitland.
In 1887 following the re-organisation of Diocesan boundaries, Quirindi was incorporated into the Armidale Diocese and the Sisters from Lochinvar were withdrawn and returned to Maitland.
Founded in Faith, Continuing in Spirit
In 1888, following a request from Bishop Torreggiani, to Mother Mary MacKillop, a community of four sisters of the brown habit of St Joseph was established in Quirindi. The sisters founded a school commencing with an enrolment of 67 children. These sisters came from Mount Street, North Sydney.
Although the Sisters of St Joseph no longer teach in the school their legacy lives on in our school community as we continue to invite students and families to Come! Share the Spirit!
